At A Tasca in Ponta Delgada, the menu shares more than food. It tells the story of Wulf Koehler and Dagmar Mehlis-Doering, who moved from Germany to São Miguel and became close friends of the house. Wulf’s underwater photography decorated the restaurant’s upstairs dining room in its early years, and together the couple went on to publish books, create whale-themed projects, and support local animal charities. Some of their work, including whale plushies and handmade cat items, is still available at A Tasca today.
